Nails
December does not leave much room for a manicure that demands patience you don’t have, not between the wrapping, the errands, and the fourth event this week. Easy does not mean lazy here, it means one simple technique, one great polish, or a single accent nail you can actually finish before you have to leave. These 12 are the ones that hold up to real life, not just a tutorial video.
Polka Dots, Candy Cane & Holly

Red and White Polka Dots
Dots are the easiest festive detail in the world, honestly the lowest-effort design on this entire list, and they still read as genuinely decorated. Use the rounded end of a bobby pin if you do not own a dotting tool, dip it in white polish and tap it onto a dry red base. Keep the rest of the nail plain and space the dots a little unevenly, it looks more like confetti than a printed pattern and takes maybe two minutes a hand. This is the design I hand to anyone who tells me they have zero nail art skill, it is genuinely that forgiving. This is also the design I recommend for kids’ nails or a mother-daughter manicure session, the technique is genuinely that simple to teach.

Candy Cane Stripe Accent
For a candy-cane look, do the stripe on one or two nails only, a full set of stripes takes real patience and honestly is not worth the effort for how busy it reads. Striping tape makes those clean little lines so much less stressful, lay it down at a slight angle, paint over it, and peel while the polish is still slightly wet. I always keep the accent nail simple otherwise, a bare red base is plenty of contrast for the white stripe to pop against. This whole design takes under ten minutes once the tape is in place, most of the time goes into letting each layer dry.

Holly Berry Accent
A few little red dots beside a green leaf shape give you instant holly, and it takes barely more effort than painting a plain base coat. I paint the two leaves first with a small angled brush, then add three tiny red dots with a toothpick once the green has fully dried so they do not smear into each other. The whole accent nail takes under five minutes once you have done it once or twice, which makes it my go-to when I am short on time but still want a detail. I would keep this to a single accent nail, holly repeated across a whole hand starts to look more like wallpaper than a manicure. This is also a lovely design to layer onto an existing red manicure without redoing the whole hand, just add the accent nail on top.
Plaid, Glossy Red & Evergreen

Mini Plaid Accent
A small plaid nail is easier than it looks when you use thin tape for the straight lines instead of trying to freehand a grid, the tape does all the precision work for you. Lay two or three strips down in one direction, paint over them in a second colour, then add a couple of crossing strips once that layer is dry. Keep it to one accent nail and you are done, plaid across a whole hand takes far longer than the payoff is worth on a busy week. A red and cream combination reads the most classically Christmas, though I have also done this in green and gold when I wanted something a touch different.

Classic Glossy Red
One great red polish is still the fastest Christmas manicure going, no dotting tools, no tape, no waiting between layers for a second colour to dry. Two careful coats and a glossy top coat is genuinely the whole process, and a good formula only needs about ten minutes total drying time between them. I keep a bottle of true red on hand all December specifically because it is the one shade I can do start to finish in under fifteen minutes. This is also the design that’s easy to fix on the go. A chip in a solid colour is far easier to touch up than a chip in the middle of an art design. This is also the shade I always keep a backup bottle of, since it is the one polish I reach for on a night when I truly have no plan.

Evergreen Green
Deep green does the festive work all by itself, you do not need a single extra detail for this one to read as an intentional holiday manicure. Choose a glossy cream formula so you do not have to add any art, the richness of the colour and the shine together do all the heavy lifting. It also hides the small imperfections of a rushed at-home manicure better than a lighter shade would, which makes it forgiving on a night when your hands are not perfectly steady. Two coats is genuinely all this needs, a third coat only slows down your drying time without adding much extra opacity.
Glitter Tips, Olive & Micro French

Red With Gold Glitter Tips
A dab of glitter on the tips is an easy shortcut to party nails, you genuinely do not need perfect coverage for it to look pretty, a slightly uneven scatter of glitter actually looks more natural. Apply it while the red underneath is still a touch tacky so it grips without sliding around, then seal the whole thing with a thick top coat. It is the detail I reach for when I have a party to get to and about ten minutes to make my nails look like I planned ahead. A cheap makeup sponge works just as well as an actual glitter brush for tapping the polish on evenly. This also works beautifully over a base you already have on, you do not need a fresh manicure underneath for the glitter trick to look intentional.

Olive Shimmer
A subtle shimmer polish makes even a plain set feel special, it is the no-tools, no-fuss option for a genuinely busy week when full nail art is not happening. One coat of a good olive shimmer formula catches the light just enough to look finished without you doing anything beyond your usual two coats and a top coat. This is the shade I reach for on the years I want festive nails but zero extra steps in the routine. It also photographs surprisingly well under flash, the shimmer catches the light instead of washing out the way a flat colour sometimes does.

Silver Micro French
A fine chrome or silver line at the tip is easier than a full design and still catches the light beautifully, it is basically a French manicure with almost no extra time added. I use a thin striping brush and steady my hand against the side of my other finger to keep the line even, that small trick makes a bigger difference than people expect. It also doubles as your easiest transition into New Year’s Eve, no need to redo your nails between the two holidays. This is one of the few easy designs here that genuinely looks better the more times you practise the line, so do not worry if the first attempt is not perfectly even. This is also one of the quickest fixes if you chip a nail mid-week, redoing one thin line is far faster than repainting a full colour.
Tree, Bow & Red French Details

Single Christmas Tree
Put the detail on one nail per hand and leave the rest simple, that is my favourite busy-girl trick and it works for almost any design on this entire list. A tiny tree built from a few overlapping triangles takes under two minutes once the rest of your manicure is dry, and it reads as a deliberate accent rather than something rushed. I like a small dot of gold on top for a star, it finishes the tree without adding real time to the process. This is genuinely the design I recommend most often when someone tells me they are doing their nails the night before a holiday party.

Little Bow Accent
A bow sticker or a small painted bow makes a basic manicure feel gift-ready in seconds, and the sticker route is honestly the fastest design on this whole list if you are truly out of time. Press it onto a fully dry base coat and seal over it with a top coat so the edges do not catch on anything. If you would rather paint it, two small triangles and a tiny knot in the middle is really all a bow needs to read clearly. This works on absolutely any base colour, which makes it the easiest detail to add at the very last minute no matter what you already have on. This is also the design I would recommend keeping in your bag for a last-minute office party, the sticker version takes literally seconds to apply.

Red French Tip
A red French works even if your lines are not perfectly straight, the slight imperfection at the tip barely reads from normal viewing distance and nobody is examining your hands that closely. A slim brush or a strip of tape as a guide keeps the whole thing neat, tape is the more forgiving option if you are newer to doing your own nails. It is one of the more grown-up looks on this list, quieter than a full red set but still unmistakably Christmas. I like this one specifically on a slightly longer almond shape, the curve of the tip makes the French line easier to follow than a flat square edge does.
Choose the technique that feels easiest for you, not the one that looks hardest on Pinterest. A clean, simple set you can finish is always better than an over-ambitious one you never get to wear.
