People ask me for my hair care routine like I’m going to reveal some secret twenty-step regimen. Honestly, it’s simpler than that, and the order actually matters more than the products. Here’s what I follow and what I walk clients through.
Twelve steps, in the order I actually do them.
Pre-Wash Oil Treatment
Before shampoo ever touches your hair, I apply a lightweight oil to the mid-lengths and ends and let it sit twenty minutes. It’s a small step that protects hair through the whole wash.
Double Cleanse the Scalp
One light wash to clear surface buildup, then a second wash with real lather focused on the scalp itself. Your scalp is skin, it deserves an actual cleanse.
Deep Condition Weekly
Conditioner on the lengths and ends, mask once a week with a little heat from a warm towel to help it actually absorb. This is the step people skip most and miss most.
Leave-In and Seal
Leave-in conditioner on damp hair, then a small amount of oil to seal it in. This combination is doing more work for your hair’s moisture than any single expensive product.
Sleep on Silk
Everything you just did gets undone by a cotton pillowcase overnight. Silk or satin, every single night, non-negotiable in my routine.
Trim on a Real Schedule
Every eight to twelve weeks, not “whenever I remember.” Ends that split just keep splitting further up the strand if you let them go too long.
