A routine only works if you actually follow it, which sounds obvious but is where most growth plans fall apart. Clients get excited, buy five products, do everything for a week, then burn out. I’d rather build something smaller that survives contact with real life.
Here’s the routine structure I actually walk clients through.
Daily: Two Minutes of Scalp Massage
Every single day, whether or not you’re washing or treating your hair, take two minutes for a focused scalp massage to support circulation.
Nightly: Silk or Satin Protection
Every night without exception, protect hair with a silk bonnet or pillowcase to prevent friction breakage while you sleep.
Weekly: One Targeted Treatment
Pick one weekly treatment, a mask, an oil, or a rinse, and rotate through options rather than trying to do everything every week.
Weekly: A Wash Day Reset
Use wash day as your full reset, cleansing, conditioning, and detangling gently, with extra time built in rather than rushing.
Monthly: A Progress Photo
Once a month, take a consistent photo under the same lighting to track real progress instead of relying on daily perception, which is unreliable.
Every Ten to Twelve Weeks: A Trim
Build a standing trim appointment into the routine so maintenance never falls off your radar in favor of chasing new growth alone.
Complete the Routine: More Hair Growth Ideas
If you want to fill in the weekly treatment slot, my hair mask for growth guide has options worth rotating in. Does your current routine actually fit into your real life, or is it too ambitious to keep up?
